ABP Guildford has an exciting opportunity for Abattoir Apprentices to join our Guildford plant. Guildford is a medieval town in surrey in the South of England, just 27 miles (43km) outside of London.

Complete a 12 month Abattoir apprenticeship scheme to develop/maintain skills and remain up to date with best practice

Starting salary of £7.50 per hour - £360 per week £300
After 6 months this will increase to £8.50 per hour - £340 per week
After 12 months this will increase to £9.00 per hour - £360 per week
Upon completion of apprenticeship you will be offered a permanent role as a Abattoir Operative. Pay rates will start at around £450 a week depending on skill level.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
-Ensure carcasses are dressed and trimmed according to ABP and Customer specifications as directed by the Abattoir Manager/Supervisor
-Ensure work is carried out to the best of operative`s abilities to meet production deadlines
-Ensure that all parts of the carcase are trimmed to produce optimum production yield while adhering to legislation and company requirements
-Work as part of a team and take responsibility for own work
-Carry out all procedures in a safe manner in accordance with training
-Comply with company policy and procedures on safe food handling and hygiene at all times
-Maintain responsibility for operational effectiveness of equipment and machinery and report faults to supervisor in a timely manner
-Maintain personal PPE
-Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned

Lairage Functions, including Passports ID
Functions of AWO`s, OV (Vet) and MHI inspectors
Religious Slaughter

Food Safety Systems
Dressing Process
Evisceration Process
Trimming Process
Carcass Grading
Waste Management

You will need to pass a functional English and Maths assessment - this will be provided as part of the application process
